About the role
The senior engineering leader will define a year‑long technical strategy for the mobile app infrastructure team, partner with product, design and analytics, own operational reliability, set code‑review and design standards, mentor engineers and drive large, business‑impacting projects.
About the company
Affirm is a fintech company reinventing credit with a “buy now, pay later” model that charges no hidden fees or compounding interest. The App Infrastructure team builds and maintains the shared mobile platform—design system, networking, observability, CI/CD, releases and developer tooling—used by all other mobile feature teams.

- Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands‑on experience with React Native and Expo, including authoring or migrating native modules and components.
- Experience with complex state management in React apps; Redux Toolkit knowledge is a plus.
- Performed major React Native SDK updates and can debug across the JavaScript‑native boundary under the New Architecture.
- Up‑to‑date with native OS releases and able to anticipate their impact on React Native apps.
- Skilled in mobile testing and observability tools such as E2E frameworks (Maestro/Appium), crash reporting (Sentry/Crashlytics) and feature‑flag platforms (Statsig/LaunchDarkly).
- Proficient with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) and can apply appropriate guardrails.
- Proven track record of driving a team to deliver large projects.
- Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating functionality through defined technical and execution plans.
- Ability to write high‑quality, maintainable code understandable by others.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and moving from low‑level details to large‑scale architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to gather and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross‑functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
