About the role

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer on the Visual Modeling team within Pinterest Labs, you will design and prototype cutting‑edge visual encoders and multimodal representations, train billion‑scale models on GPU clusters, build visual reasoning tools, collaborate on text‑to‑image and VLM projects, mentor junior researchers, publish research, and ship models to production that power Pinterest’s core product features.

Requirements

  • Research engineers or scientists with experience building and training computer vision models.
  • Experience with multimodal representations and visual language modeling (strongly preferred).
  • Track record of research contributions (publications, open-source work) and/or shipping ML models to production.
  • Hands‑on experience with large‑scale model training and modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a small, fast‑moving team.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Machine Learning or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Publications at top ML conferences.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, Codex, etc.) for development, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
