About the role
The Sr. Software Engineer, Backend will design and implement backend services, APIs and tools that power AKASA’s Clinical Documentation and Medical Coding SaaS suite, working closely with product, design and machine‑learning teams to deliver AI‑native solutions that improve physician documentation, coding accuracy and financial integrity for large health systems.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
- 5+ years professional experience in software development or machine learning
- Strong Python development experience
- Proven track record delivering SaaS products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience building consumer applications on top of ML pipelines
- Familiarity with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL
- Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
- CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions
- Solid understanding of system design principles
- Experience with healthcare data exchange standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI) is a plus
