About the role
The Sr. Database Engineer I (Natural/Adabas) will administer Software AG Adabas and Natural databases, manage security and access, enable analytics, troubleshoot issues, and lead environment refreshes and upgrades, working in a hybrid setting for the DC metro area.

Requirements
- 5+ years hands‑on development experience with Natural and ADABAS in enterprise environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience developing and supporting Natural applications (online and batch).
- Extensive experience with complex debugging and root‑cause analysis.
- Production issue resolution and performance tuning experience.
- Ad‑hoc data analysis and reconciliation experience.
- Ability to write and maintain clear technical documentation, program specifications, and operational runbooks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to translate technical issues for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of ADABAS database structures, files, and access paths.
- Strong working knowledge of Natural subprograms, maps, and batch processing.
- Experience with job scheduling and execution via JCL and/or SCL.
