About the role
Senior Data Scientist (Grade 28) with an AI/ML engineering focus, responsible for end‑to‑end development, evaluation, and production deployment of machine‑learning models for UHC COVE projects. The role owns MLOps pipelines, integrates models with data and software engineering teams, and drives technical innovation and operational excellence, working remotely (U.S.) with occasional office attendance for certain locations.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or related roles with a solid statistical modeling foundation.
- Proven experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production, including source control, CI/CD, model versioning, reproducibility, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in Python and PySpark for model development and automation.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
- Ability to work independently on complex technical problems, troubleshoot data, model, or pipeline issues, and automate repetitive tasks.
- Experience with MLOps and cloud tools such as Databricks, MLflow, and GitHub Actions, and familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Experience mentoring junior data scientists or leading technical workstreams.
- Familiarity with the Databricks Lakehouse platform, Spark, Delta Lake, and optimizing Spark jobs.
- Exposure to real‑time or streaming data analysis, including Kafka or streaming analytics.
