Software Engineer

The Software Engineer will build Owkin’s world‑leading Agentic AI product for biomedical researchers, creating a real‑time system that integrates LLMs, tool‑calling and interactive UI elements, while balancing robust engineering practices with cutting‑edge AI. The role involves guiding a multidisciplinary team, making strategic technical decisions, and ensuring seamless user experiences.

Owkin is an agentic AI company pioneering Biological Artificial Superintelligence to solve hard problems in biology. It builds K Pro, an AI scientist platform for pharmaceutical research and strategic decision‑making, leveraging a multimodal patient data network, state‑of‑the‑art AI for biology, and a decade of experience with pharma partners.

Requirements

• Strong drive to empower biomedical researchers with AI‑driven tools
• Excellent collaborative and pragmatic mindset in multidisciplinary environments
• Clear communicator who can translate technical complexity into actionable decisions
• Deep understanding of system architecture, infrastructure design and resilient distributed systems, including complex analytical workflows
• Extensive experience with production environments: continuous deployment, high availability, observability and security
• Curiosity and hands‑on experience with AI systems, including LLM integration and performance evaluation
• Passion for user experience and product thinking
• Proficiency with Claude Code and other AI software engineering tools
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
• Experience with Python, Kubernetes and AWS
• Preferred: experience with spatial transcriptomics data
• Preferred: knowledge of distributed computing, databases and serialization technologies
• Preferred: front‑end development experience
• Preferred: experience with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
