The Software Engineer – Database will design, develop, and manage SQL Server databases, ETL processes, and data migration activities for the Judicial Branch, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliable reporting.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience with SQL Server (versions 2014‑2022).
  • Strong knowledge of database design and data modeling; experience with Visio or similar tools.
  • Expertise in creating tables, indexes, foreign keys, appropriate data types, and default constraints.
  • Advanced SQL/T‑SQL development: complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and user‑defined functions.
  • Understanding of ETL concepts; experience designing/building ETL processes; SSIS experience a plus.
  • Experience with data migration, extraction, validation, and cleansing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in XML schema design, XML storage, and transformation for legacy conversion.
  • Performance‑tuning skills: query optimization, index tuning, execution‑plan analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with RedGate tools for deployment (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and basic project‑management understanding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for documentation and meetings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
