Senior Technical Writer (Data Documentation)

About the role

The Senior Technical Writer in the Data Office creates clear, structured documentation for data catalogs, metrics, user guides, SDKs and UI text, owns a documentation area, improves processes, leads projects, supports contributors, mentors junior writers and raises documentation quality across the department.

Requirements

• Extensive writing experience in software, IT or data-related domains
• Strong technical foundation with understanding of software development concepts and workflows
• Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, developer tools, data tools, datasets, metrics, data catalogs or other complex systems
• Proficiency with docs-as-code, Markdown or XML, and version control systems such as Git
• Excellent English writing skills and ability to explain complex topics to highly technical audiences
• Proactive mindset with ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and drive work forward
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an inclination toward mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Strong understanding of data analysis concepts and terminology (preferred)
• Experience leading or independently completing technical documentation projects (preferred)
• Experience improving documentation processes using templates, automation, scripts or AI tools (preferred)
• Experience optimizing content for both human readers and AI‑based discovery and reuse (preferred)
