The Senior Core Database Developer will design, build, and optimize the core engine of VAST Data’s high‑performance database, focusing on storage engines, query execution, and transaction management to deliver fast, reliable data processing.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in systems programming, preferably C/C++.
  • Deep understanding of database internals such as query planners, storage engines, and transaction processing.
  • Expertise in fundamental computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
  • Proven experience building or contributing to complex, high‑performance systems like databases, file systems, or distributed data platforms.
  • Senior‑level experience with ability to work remotely or in a hybrid model from Canada.
  • Ability to work on core engineering of a database system (SQL‑only experience not sufficient).
