About the role

The Senior Software Engineer – Digital Products will lead design, development and delivery of scalable SaaS solutions within the Digital Product team, collaborating with product, data, UX/UI, QA and infrastructure groups, guiding architecture, best practices and a team of engineers while working primarily on‑site in Reading, PA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including full‑stack development for SaaS or digital products.
  • Proficiency with modern web technologies/frameworks: React, Angular, jQuery, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Spring/Spring‑MVC, MyBatis, RESTful APIs.
  • 2–4 years contributing to Agile product teams; 1–2 years leading medium to large digital projects.
  • Experience designing cloud‑native, scalable, reusable architectures for enterprise‑grade SaaS applications.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle, design patterns, and architectural best practices.
  • Ability to own multiple applications and prioritize work in a fast‑paced digital environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, conducting technical interviews, and building high‑performing teams.
  • Understanding of SVPG Product Operating Model principles (discovery, framing, iterative delivery).
  • Ability to estimate timelines, define technical requirements, and guide teams to successful outcomes.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance required.
  • Must complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands such as occasional lifting of up to 25 lb and ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands.
