Senior Software Engineer, Air Defense

About the role

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Air Defense team in Irvine, CA to solve problems in networking, autonomy, systems integration and robotics, own customer‑deployed software, collaborate across product and engineering groups, create metrics, triage issues, work directly with end‑users, and travel up to 30% to build, test and deploy capabilities in operational environments.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background (industry or academic) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
• 6+ years experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, Rust, Go, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience building software solutions involving significant data processing and analysis
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases
• Desire to work on critical software with real‑world impact
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
• Strong background in Physics, Mathematics, and/or Motion Planning for modeling & simulation and physical systems (preferred)
• Experience developing and testing multi‑agent autonomous systems and deploying them in real‑world environments (preferred)
• Feature and algorithm development experience with understanding of behavior trees (preferred)
• Experience developing software/hardware for flight systems and safety‑critical functionality (preferred)
• Knowledge of distributed communication networks and message standards (preferred)
• Familiarity with military systems and operational tactics (preferred)
