The Senior Planning & Control System Engineer in the AD Division designs, implements and optimizes core vehicle controllers and motion‑planning algorithms, works with planning, AI and systems engineering teams, integrates learning‑based policies, and validates performance on real‑world vehicle hardware.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Control Engineering, Electrical/Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Robotics or a related field with at least 3 years of professional experience (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of control theory including MPC, LQR/LQG, SMC and PID with experience in linear and nonlinear system modeling
  • Proficiency in embedded and real‑time software development using C++
  • Experience developing with ROS2 or similar middleware environments
  • Proven experience controlling and tuning physical actuators in automotive or robotics systems with production‑level deployment
  • Ph.D. in Control Theory, Robotics or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience with numerical optimization solvers such as CasADi, OSQP or Ipopt (preferred)
  • Experience formulating and solving real‑time QP/NLP optimization problems (preferred)
  • Deep understanding of production‑grade motion planning and state‑estimation filters (preferred)
  • Experience integrating or collaborating with RL or IL‑based control policies (preferred)
  • Experience combining generative AI, RL/IL policies with traditional control systems for safety‑critical applications (preferred)
  • Publication record in top‑tier control/robotics conferences or journals (e.g., CDC, ACC, ICRA, IROS) (preferred)
  • Knowledge of automotive/robotics safety and coding standards such as ISO 26262 and MISRA C++ (preferred)
