Senior Data Engineer

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will work with internal teams and customers to design, build, and operationalize complex data solutions that support AI, ML and BI insights, guiding technical decisions, handling multiple accounts, and educating end users.

SunnyData is a fast‑growing startup that helps customers on their data journey by building scalable architectures, data engineering pipelines, consumption layers and AI/ML applications. Founded in the United States two years ago, it now operates teams in Nepal and the LATAM region (Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico).

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and data product development.
• Experience with data engineering technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Experience with data science/ML technologies such as pandas, scikit‑learn, or HPO.
• Experience with data warehousing technologies such as SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS.
• Solid understanding of end‑to‑end data analytics workflow.
• Demonstrated domain expertise and ability to understand technical concepts and systems.
• Proven problem‑solving and debugging skills.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to overlap with US business hours up to 50%.
• Intermediate leadership skills with self‑motivation for personal growth.
• Excellent time‑management and prioritization skills.
• Nice to have: knowledge of public cloud platforms AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Nice to have: Databricks data engineering or machine learning certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
