About the role

The Senior Data Engineer – Data Platform builds and operates the core data infrastructure that powers analytics, reporting and operational workflows across SunStrong. Working with Asset Management, Finance and Operations teams as well as IT and security, the role designs scalable batch and streaming pipelines, curates Snowflake/PostgreSQL data models, and ensures platform reliability, observability and governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years experience in data engineering or platform engineering, preferably in financial services or regulated industry.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills with production‑grade data pipeline, transformation, and validation experience.
  • Proficiency with AI‑assisted development tools for pipeline design while maintaining code quality, security, governance.
  • Hands‑on experience with Snowflake and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, cost optimization, secure multi‑tenant access.
  • Experience with pipeline orchestration/workflow tools (Apache Airflow, Dagster or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Git, code review, and CI/CD practices for data platform development.
  • Experience designing dimensional or domain‑oriented data models and delivering curated datasets.
  • Familiarity with data quality, lineage, and governance tooling (preferred).
  • Experience with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform) strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to streaming or change‑data‑capture (CDC) patterns and event‑driven architectures (plus).
  • Understanding of financial data domains helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear designs and status reports.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and API/integration patterns for data services (plus).
