About the role

The role is a Legal Counsel position within Transamerica’s Protection Solutions and Savings & Investments businesses, supporting the Employee Benefits division’s supplemental health and employer‑provided life insurance products. Working on a team of four attorneys, the lawyer provides strategic legal guidance, contract work and regulatory compliance, with hybrid or remote options.

Requirements

  • JD from an ABA‑accredited law school
  • Member of the Bar in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • At least five years of experience at a sophisticated law firm or as in‑house counsel with insurance regulatory experience, focusing on supplemental health insurance, state insurance matters or life insurance
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, agility and adaptability in a fast‑paced, changing corporate environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Detail‑oriented, action‑oriented and able to prioritize workload accurately
  • Commitment to honesty, inclusion, respect and collaborative culture
  • Preferred: Experience with individual and group life insurance products
  • Preferred: Experience with voluntary benefits such as supplemental health or long‑term care and knowledge of ACA, HIPAA and ERISA
  • Preferred: Innovative thinking to develop cost‑effective, business‑impacting solutions
