About the role

The Senior Controls Engineer on the Rocket Motor Systems team will design, commission and upgrade control systems for solid-rocket-motor production equipment, develop Siemens PLC code, enforce standards, integrate FactoryOS software, lead failure root-cause analysis and work with cross-functional teams to improve uptime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)
  • Experience configuring and tuning servo drives and VFDs, including PID tuning and STO/SS
  • Strong knowledge of Ethernet-based communication protocols such as ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, and EtherNet/IP
  • Proficiency in electrical component selection with solid foundation in wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets
  • Experience integrating with SCADA and OT networking
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to export-controlled information access
  • Experience performing risk assessments and control safety design
  • Proficiency with pneumatic concepts and design
  • Familiarity with NFPA70E electrical safety practices
  • 10+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment (preferred)
  • Experience working in an energetics facility (preferred)
  • Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing (preferred)
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 600 VAC (preferred)
  • TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery) (preferred)
