Senior Cloud Software Engineer - Efficiency Engineering

About the role

As a cloud infrastructure software engineer on the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team, you will design, build, and operate the scalable, multi‑cloud, multi‑region foundation of ClickHouse Cloud, focusing on compute, networking, security and cost‑efficient automation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, C/C++, Java or another object‑oriented language.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably using Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud‑native edge or service‑mesh technologies, preferably Envoy and Istio.
• Proven ability to lead and ship large‑scope technical projects with multiple engineers.
• Understanding of network topologies, protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices, encryption, access controls, and compliance standards like SOC 2 and GDPR.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a global team.
• Strong problem‑solving and production debugging abilities.
• Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability and data governance.
• High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability.
