About the role

The Senior Battery Engineer will own end‑to‑end development of energy storage systems for Anduril’s next‑generation drones, translating requirements into battery pack designs, leading cell selection, prototype iterations, manufacturing ramp‑up, hands‑on integration, and field sustainment while serving as the primary interface between the Core Battery Group and product teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or a physical science focused on energy storage plus 5+ years of designing, testing and troubleshooting energy storage systems
  • Prior ownership of battery pack design and prototype assembly
  • Demonstrated experience delivering robust, high‑performance energy storage systems with substantial technical ownership
  • Proven technical contributions driving one or more energy storage systems from prototype to production
  • Professional awareness of at least one: BMS electrical design, BMS algorithms/software functionality, or BMS validation against operational requirements
  • Professional awareness of at least one: battery cell characterization methods (mission profile validation, equivalent‑circuit modeling, cycle/calendar life, safety features) or battery cell/pack modeling/simulation in Matlab or Simulink
  • Basic capability and understanding of CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks)
  • Understanding of UN38.3, NAVSEA S9310 and/or equivalent (UL, IEC) battery safety standards
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to export‑controlled information or facilities
  • Preferred: Graduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or physical sciences with focus on energy storage
  • Preferred: familiarity with MIL‑STD‑882, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464
  • Preferred: advanced experience designing battery pack components and sub‑assemblies with CAD tools
  • Preferred: experience with rapid deployment of drones/UAVs
  • Preferred: experience with student‑lead competitions such as Formula SAE/Baja, Hyperloop, racing or small startups
  • Preferred: advanced expertise in BMS electrical design, algorithms/software functionality and validation against operational requirements
  • Preferred: advanced expertise in battery cell characterization methods and battery cell/pack modeling/simulation in Matlab or Simulink
