The Senior Backend Engineer – Microservices will design, build, and support scalable Java‑based microservices on a cloud‑native platform, collaborating with product, architecture, and cloud engineering teams, driving best practices, mentoring peers, and ensuring high‑quality delivery within an agile environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or four years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree)
  • 13+ years of experience delivering microservices architecture
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
  • Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
  • Strong SQL and database performance‑tuning skills
  • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and Terraform IaC
  • Proven ability to produce comprehensive JUnit test coverage and ensure code quality
  • Experience conducting peer code reviews and providing actionable feedback
  • Familiarity with agile project tools such as VersionOne or similar
  • Production support experience including incident management and troubleshooting
  • Preferred: experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Preferred: knowledge of microservices design patterns and advanced distributed‑systems concepts
  • Preferred: experience supporting high‑traffic, large‑scale platforms
  • Preferred: contributions to open‑source projects
  • Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and meet U.S. residency requirements
