About the role

As a Principal Software Engineer (Rust) on the Platform team, you will design and maintain the core infrastructure of Legion’s Agentic AI platform, work with cross‑functional teams and ML engineers, provide production support, and ensure scalability and performance of the platform’s backend services.

Requirements

  • US citizenship or Green Card (required for government contract)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of software and platform engineering experience designing and operating large‑scale distributed systems
  • Experience building platform infrastructure and backend systems serving multiple products and engineering teams
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Rust, designing high‑performance systems
  • Expertise in database architecture and scalable data systems, including distributed databases, storage, indexing, data modeling, and high‑throughput/low‑latency access patterns
  • Experience designing systems that support AI and machine learning workloads
  • Familiarity with workflow engines, execution runtimes, and AI orchestration frameworks
  • Growth mindset, low ego, collaborative attitude, and advocacy for inclusion in technical discussions
  • Preferred: startup or 0→1 product experience
  • Preferred: familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Preferred: understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for platform deployment
