About the role

The Principal Product Data Scientist is the senior technical leader of the Product Data Science function, shaping vision, setting technical direction and delivering strategic impact through advanced analytics, AI tools and cross‑functional collaboration with product, engineering, design and commercial teams.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data science or a comparable quantitative role with a proven record of influencing product organizations.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Deep hands‑on experience with statistical modeling, quasi‑experimentation, multi‑arm bandits and a wide range of machine learning techniques (regression, classification, clustering).
  • Demonstrated ability to define, implement and operationalize product and feature‑level metrics from scratch.
  • Proven track record of strategic influence, leading technical discussions and communicating complex insights to cross‑functional partners.
  • Experience scaling analytics impact through automated processes, self‑service tools or data products.
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills with evidence‑based judgment.
  • Outstanding leadership experience mentoring and developing analysts or data scientists.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication abilities to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics or a related quantitative field.
  • Advanced programming background for building simulations and prototyping data products (preferred).
  • Experience validating quantitative findings with qualitative methods such as surveys or user research (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with applied AI, including NLP, large language models or Agentic AI for analytics (preferred).
  • Experience working in a two‑sided marketplace, e‑commerce or travel‑technology industry (preferred).
  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced qualification (preferred).
