Principal Data Engineer

The Principal Data Engineer joins the Datastore team, responsible for defining the core data model and centralized repository/API for brain data, designing scalable data models and event‑driven pipelines, setting architectural standards across platform teams, and coaching engineers in a fully remote US‑wide role.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend development experience with a focus on data engineering, data platforms, and infrastructure for data‑centric applications
• Strong proficiency in SQL with production experience in PostgreSQL
• Experience with data streaming/event processing tools such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or cloud equivalents like Amazon Kinesis
• Proficiency in a modern general‑purpose programming language and ability to quickly learn the stack (SQL/TypeScript/Julia)
• Experience or interest in using LLM‑assisted or agentic coding tools in production with appropriate guardrails
• Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments; familiarity with Kubernetes and IaC tools like Terraform or Helm
• Collaborative mindset and strong written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous, remote work
