Job description

About the role

As an early member of the engineering team you will define and implement features for Grid Status’s API and web app, build and operate data‑intensive services, and own end‑to‑end delivery of high‑impact projects while collaborating across product, data and infrastructure groups. The role is remote in the US with optional hybrid in Chicago.

About the company

Grid Status provides a modern, open data‑analytics platform for the energy sector, delivering accessible, actionable energy data to accelerate the energy transition. In two years it has grown to over 20,000 monthly active users and its data is cited by outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and the Federal Reserve, serving renewable developers, asset operators, utilities, traders and startups.

Requirements

  • Willingness to dive into problems and solve them independently without delegation
  • Ability to own end‑to‑end delivery of features and services from concept through deployment and maintenance
  • Proficient asynchronous written communication, minimizing disruptive meetings
  • Experience building complex single‑page applications; UI/UX for data‑intensive software is a plus
  • Successfully built and evolved systems to meet production SLAs at meaningful scale
  • Comfortable working on small teams with high autonomy
  • Willingness to work on any layer of the stack as needed
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Proficient with TypeScript, Python, and Docker
  • Experience with React, FastAPI, Postgres, DBT, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Stripe, Clerk, AWS, and Render
  • Familiarity with GitHub, Sentry, and Better Stack
