About the role
The Metallurgy Analyst will support the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy, addressing critical mineral and material supply chain challenges by evaluating investment opportunities, guiding prototyping, developing acquisition documentation, assessing feasibility, monitoring program execution, engaging stakeholders, conducting site visits, and creating strategic communications to inform senior‑level decisions.

Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- At least 3 years of experience in mineral processing, production, science, or technology analysis
- Understanding of or experience with critical and strategic materials/minerals, mineralogy, mineral exploration, or geology
- Demonstrated analytical and communication skills for senior‑level written reports and oral presentations
- Ability to work effectively in a high‑tempo, team‑oriented environment and collaboratively solve problems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Experience supporting the Office of the Secretary of War or comparable senior strategic staff environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and PPBE process to identify and mitigate industrial base risks (preferred)
- Experience briefing, engaging with, and advising senior military leaders including Flag and General Officers (preferred)
- Experience applying scientific, program analysis, and systems engineering concepts to complex advanced manufacturing challenges (preferred)
- Experience leading onsite implementation of project plans and managing cost, schedule, and performance objectives (preferred)
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification with demonstrated process improvement leadership (preferred)
