Medior Backend Engineer, Enterprise Success

About the role

As a Medior Backend Engineer you will design, implement and operate high‑performance data‑processing systems and Scala‑based backend services for Hiya’s call‑processing pipeline and customer‑facing web applications, owning the full lifecycle from cloud (AWS) infrastructure to storage, streaming and on‑call operations.

Requirements

• Experience or strong interest in functional programming in a typed language (Scala preferred)
• BSc or MSc in a relevant field
• 2–3+ years of professional software engineering experience (medior level)
• Familiarity with data storage and processing technologies such as PostgreSQL, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift or Apache Spark
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in English and Hungarian with both local and remote teams
• Customer‑centric mindset with a desire to own design and architecture end‑to‑end
• Iterative mindset focused on continuous improvement
