Job description

About the role

The Market Analyst owns Base’s perspective on energy markets and products, building and maintaining models to identify value for the battery fleet, defending those views before capital commitments, and turning rigorous data science and wholesale market expertise into clear, vetted recommendations for the company.

About the company

Base is an America‑based next‑generation power startup rebuilding the electricity grid with a vast network of distributed batteries, aiming to transform the fragile, centralized system into a resilient, abundant one.

Requirements

  • Fluency in data science and data visualization, selecting appropriate analytical approaches and creating business‑driving charts
  • Proficiency with modern operational tools such as SQL and Grafana for fleet telemetry analysis
  • Deep understanding of wholesale energy market operations (e.g., ERCOT), including real‑time arbitrage, ancillary services, and grid‑service control loops
  • Working knowledge of unit commitment, economic dispatch, and production cost modeling
  • Nice to have: experience deploying machine learning models to production, strong Python and pandas skills, and expertise in a statistical subfield such as extreme value theory or stochastic processes
  • Nice to have: commercial instincts and understanding of how energy engineering maps to economic incentives like ITC and PTC
