About the role

The Managing Director for Finance and Operations reports to the CEO and leads the finance and operations function, shaping financial strategy, compliance, investment management and business model evolution while building high‑performing finance, fund‑administration and HR teams for this nonprofit impact investor.

Village Capital is a US‑based 501(c)3 nonprofit impact investor that runs entrepreneur support programs and manages blended pools of capital, having supported over 2,000 startups since 2009 and focusing on social, economic and environmental challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field; CPA, CFA, MBA preferred
  • 7–10+ years of financial management experience, including diversified revenue streams and investment management
  • 2–3 years in senior managerial role supervising teams and third‑party providers
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience designing and implementing finance and grant reporting systems
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams on complex financial systems
  • Expertise in accounting, financial planning and operations management
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to build forward‑looking financial models and projections
  • Proficiency with financial software, technology and data management
  • Working knowledge of human resources operations, compensation, performance management and employment compliance
  • Ability to communicate financial and operational concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Experience with blended finance, multi‑currency transactions, debt and alternative investments preferred
  • Experience designing business models and revenue diversification strategies preferred
  • Fundraising track record and ability to manage external stakeholder relationships preferred
  • Understanding of regenerative and sustainable business models preferred
  • Willingness to engage with AI policy development
