About the role
The Low Observable Technician works on Anduril’s Low Observables Team, bridging composite structures and low‑observable (LO) coatings for unmanned air systems. The hybrid role performs composite bodywork, surface preparation and panel fitting, while directly supporting the LO paint team to ensure airframe surfaces are paint‑ready and meet stringent LO performance criteria.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years hands‑on experience with composite/metal structures fabrication, repair, bonding, surface finishing or assembly in aerospace, automotive or composite production
- Proficiency in composite sanding, filling and contouring to meet flatness, contour and roughness specifications
- Experience with filler and sealant systems, including mixing and application using trowel, squeegee, caulk gun or spatula, achieving flush finish
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process specifications and MIL‑spec documents
- Experience with precision measurement tools such as feeler gauges, step gauges, calipers, micrometers, contour templates or surface profilometers
- Working knowledge of composite surface preparation methods for adhesive bonding or coating application (solvent wipe, abrasion, media blast, peel ply)
- Knowledge of aerospace quality requirements; experience with AS9100, Nadcap or equivalent quality management systems
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance
- Ability to wear required PPE (full‑face respirator, supplied air hood, chemical‑resistant suit, hearing protection, safety harness) for extended periods
- Physical ability to stand, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, work in confined spaces or elevated platforms and lift up to 50 lb
- 3+ years experience with LO structures or LO coatings on military aircraft programs (e.g., F‑22, F‑35, B‑21, B‑2)
- Direct experience with LO gap/seam fill materials, edge treatments and RAM tape application
- Experience finishing both carbon‑fiber/epoxy and metallic (aluminum, titanium) structures
- Experience with composite repair methods such as scarfing, wet layup, pre‑preg patching, vacuum bagging and post‑repair contouring
- Experience with HVLP spray application of primers and topcoats, including cross‑training with paint team
- Experience qualifying new materials or processes (first‑article inspection, process validation)
- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Experience in startup, rapid‑prototyping or new product introduction environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of electromagnetic signature principles related to surface geometry, gaps, steps and material transitions (valued)
