Job description
About the role
As a Founder in Cohort 1 you will take a high-stakes AI-infrastructure security problem—from an initial idea to a concrete, fundable intervention—by researching the issue, building a founding team, securing expert validation, and delivering a grant proposal that could unlock up to $10 million; work is remote (US-preferred) with ~20 % travel.
About the company
Atlas Computing is a small, mission-driven organization that tackles society-scale AI risks by designing, validating and staffing high-impact interventions; it operates like a tiger team, design studio and think-tank to lower barriers for specialists who will own AI-risk projects.
Requirements
- Experience in cybersecurity for national security, SL5 facilities, intelligence, offensive security, or similar.
- Experience in machine‑learning security research (tamper resistance, backdoors, password locking) or security at frontier AI labs, hyperscalers, hardware firms, or government contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear next steps and act with limited guidance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for articulating plans and motivating others.
- Proven track record of reviewing state‑of‑the‑art work, prototyping, testing, and iterating solutions.
- Experience coordinating and aligning multiple stakeholders toward a common goal.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities; comfort with uncertainty in a small, evolving organization.
- Deep personal commitment to mitigating AI risk.
- Ability to work remotely (US‑based preferred) and travel up to ~20 % of the time.
- (Preferred) History of non‑technical coordination work, contributions to existential risk reduction, leadership or people‑management experience, prior work on AI security problems, extensive networks in cybersecurity or AI safety, and US work authorization.
