Forward Deployed Engineer, Infrastructure and Deployment

About the role

The role owns the end‑to‑end installation, configuration, security, upgrade, and ongoing health of Preql’s self‑hosted platform in regulated customer environments, acting as the primary point of contact for deployment architecture, compliance, and production support.

Requirements

• 5+ years of infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering experience shipping to production environments you do not control.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Deep expertise in at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and working knowledge of the others.
• Strong networking and enterprise identity knowledge (VPCs, private connectivity, SSO/SAML, IAM/role design, secrets management).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and incident response processes.
• High proficiency in SQL and data‑infrastructure concepts.
• Ability to work directly with customers, including scoping, push‑back, and delivering difficult news early.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous situations and writing runbooks when none exist.
• (Preferred) Experience packaging and shipping self‑hosted or customer‑managed software rather than pure SaaS.
• (Preferred) History of guiding deployments through regulated buyers’ security reviews (e.g., banks) while keeping projects moving.
• (Preferred) Familiarity with enterprise data infrastructure and finance systems.
