Controls Engineer

About the role

The Controls Engineer on the xAI datacenter control systems team will design, implement, and optimize building‑management, power‑management, and other SCADA systems, ensure stable operation of chillers, pumps and power distribution, develop HMI specifications and reporting dashboards, and work with operations, maintenance and utilities throughout the data‑center lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Computer Control Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years hands‑on experience as a Controls Engineer with industrial control systems
• Experience programming Ignition SCADA
• Experience programming Siemens TIA Portal PLCs
• Ability to stand for extended periods, work in tight quarters, tolerate noise, and lift 10‑15 lb
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Must pass pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing
• Advanced proficiency in IEC 61131‑3 programming languages, especially structured text and ladder logic (preferred)
• Experience with industrial control hardware from manufacturers such as Siemens, SEL, Rockwell (preferred)
• Familiarity with HMI/GUI development using platforms like Ignition or SEL (preferred)
• Methodical troubleshooting approach (preferred)
• Strong documentation and communication skills (preferred)
• Technical project‑management mindset (preferred)
• Team‑player who takes initiative and is highly motivated (preferred)
