About the role

The Cloud Database Analyst II works within the client’s healthcare insurance organization to define and implement cloud‑based data solutions, manage and optimize AWS/Azure databases, ensure high‑availability and compliance, and collaborate with stakeholders to align database architecture with business goals.

Requirements

  • Cloud data migration and CI/CD experience.
  • Agile experience with familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Lead database migration and deployment of lift‑and‑shift projects to cloud platforms.
  • Design and implement high‑availability, backup/restore, snapshots, and disaster‑recovery strategies for cloud databases across multiple regions.
  • Expertise in backup/recovery, data replication, failover, and cross‑region availability.
  • Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, EC2‑hosted databases, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Hands‑on experience managing and optimizing cloud‑hosted relational databases, including provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning.
  • Strong SQL performance tuning, indexing, complex query writing, execution‑plan analysis, and optimization across large datasets in cloud‑native or hybrid environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM Templates, or CloudFormation) for automating infrastructure provisioning.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks (NIST 800‑53, FedRAMP) and ability to enforce cloud security and compliance standards (IAM, VPC policies, data classification).
  • Solid understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, FedRAMP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools such as CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance Insights, Azure Monitor, SolarWinds, Redgate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or 4 years relevant experience; or 2 years experience plus an Associate’s degree.
  • Minimum 8 years of IT experience including varied database administration experience.
  • Preferred: experience with relational (Oracle) and non‑relational databases on cloud and on‑premises handling semi‑structured or unstructured data.
  • Preferred: cloud certifications.
  • Preferred: data warehousing or analytics integration experience (Redshift, QuickSight, Glue).
