About the role
The role is a Research and Development Engineer focused on artificial intelligence, responsible for designing and implementing machine‑learning systems, researching state‑of‑the‑art models, handling large multivariate data sets, visualizing results, producing technical reports, building software prototypes, and leading or supervising junior staff within the ARL team.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- 5+ years of relevant experience for Advanced Professional level, 14+ years for Senior, or 19+ years for Principal
- Proficiency in data science and algorithm development
- Experience with Python for machine learning
- Experience researching, developing, and implementing machine learning models
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a government security clearance
- Successful completion of background checks per university policy
- Preferred: Active TS/SCI clearance
- Preferred: Master’s degree
- Preferred: Training and optimizing ML algorithms on NVIDIA GPU architectures
- Preferred: Experience with geo‑spatial data
- Preferred: Strong foundation in statistics, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra
- Preferred: Exploratory data analysis and visualization
- Preferred: Familiarity with Pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow, NumPy, MatPlotLib, PostgreSQL, FastAPI
