About the role
The Principal Machine Learning Engineer will lead the design and development of generative AI and graph‑ML solutions within Extreme's AI Core group, overseeing the full software development lifecycle, building high‑performance microservices, implementing real‑time inferencing, and mentoring engineers to drive innovation across flagship networking products.

Requirements
- Degree in mathematics, computer science or related discipline
- 5–10 years experience across the complete software development lifecycle (design, coding, reviews, testing, build, deployment, operations)
- 5–10 years experience in Python with deep knowledge of advanced features and libraries
- Expertise designing RESTful APIs with hands‑on experience using FastAPI
- Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices
- 3+ years experience leading design and architecture of large distributed systems, preferably on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent ML experience (preferred)
- Experience with ML frameworks/tools such as PyTorch, SageMaker, Triton, TensorRT (preferred)
- Experience with NoSQL and document databases (preferred)
- Proven ability to handle big data, optimize workflows, and improve system performance (preferred)
