AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

The Forward Deployed Engineer reports to the VP of Customer Operations and works at the intersection of Customer Operations, Product and Engineering. The role blends field‑side customer engagement, technical implementation, rapid prototyping in the Rails/GraphQL/React stack, and automation of repeatable tasks to deliver and expand solutions for mid‑market construction logistics accounts.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with production code in Ruby/Rails, JavaScript/React, Python or equivalent
• Proficiency with APIs, databases and data pipelines; ability to read GraphQL schemas, debug integrations and write migrations
• Strong customer‑facing instincts and ability to earn trust of senior operations leaders
• Bias toward action and ability to fix problems without waiting for tickets
• Excellent written and verbal communication to translate messy conversations into clear problem statements and solutions
• Willingness to travel to customer sites at least once a month (approximately every 4‑6 weeks)
• Comfort with ambiguity and thriving in a fast‑moving startup environment
• Daily, opinionated use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
