Job description

About the role

The AI Backend Engineer will design, build, and operate backend systems that enable AI‑powered insurance workflows, creating orchestration layers, inference pipelines, and observability tooling while optimizing latency, cost, and reliability. This fully remote role is part of a globally distributed engineering team collaborating with product, frontend, operations, and ML groups.

About the company

The company operates an AI‑driven platform that powers insurance decisioning, automation, and orchestration, focusing on a core AI stack that connects large language models and backend services to deliver low‑latency, reliable AI workflows for global customers.

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering experience in production systems.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, including LLMs, embeddings, or AI workflows.
  • Experience building or operating high‑throughput, low‑latency services.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and production debugging.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, data flows, and system design principles.
  • Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing).
  • Ownership mindset and bias toward shipping.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced, globally distributed teams.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Node.js, Python, SQL, NoSQL, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude), and open‑source models.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems tooling and low‑latency optimization.
